Norwegian restoration

A pile of cut wood. Mostly pieces pulled from the old house. I got a contemporary art feel from the pile. I’m thinking it looks like an installation. I could send it to China and have it cast in bronze:)

The old little kitchen

My spouse knows her way around a hammer, torque and a paintbrush. Everything bellow was done by her:) The pink post it is due to the limited height of the doorway. We sometimes slam into it on our way to the fridge not visible.

 House_kitchen_as_it_was

I am only semi-able to finish work but great at starting out. I’ll be needing a personal assistant before I’m 40. We are planning to finish off the kitchen this Easter doing the ceiling and opening up to the mini-kitchen on the left. I’m posting how it looks right now. Not your streamlined Italian type but it does it’s job and we like it. I like anything with potential more than anything finished anyway. The sun has returned to the valley of shadows but you won’t believe the amount of snow. I’m going out to move some:)

Ceci n’est pas une pipe

Ceci n’est pas une pipe

We had allot of problems with condensation underneath the old pipecover so I opted for an old school solution. The sheet metal pipe cover had actually ruined the concrete just bellow the old roof (water, frost and no ventilation) so the pipe could actually be lifted off. I had to repair it with concrete and iron. At the time I actually tried to break down the bricks above the roof but I gave it up. I couldn’t even make a decent hole in the concrete so it’ll do for years to come. I’m covering it with  thin layers of concrete and eventually it’ll be white, or pink, or orange?

Maries window

I’m taking my time. What can I say with all the rain, Weber and Durkheim. I finished the work above the window yesterday. I’m posting this just to have a reminder of the small pieces of wood that had to go up to make it work. I don’t like the way I did the waterboards at the top of the picture. We’ll have to rent a contraption to get up there next year to paint it. Perhaps I’ll do something then. If the weather holds I’ll pull down the scaffolding this week. It felt really good to do some real work.

The fireplace and her boots

What seems like months of rain ended last week. They took the juice last Thursday to do some repairs on the new hospital site so we had to make some juice of our own. The evening was spent looking at the fire. Cozy enough but I wish I had bought a generator instead of renting a temporary powerbox from Trollfjord. What a waste:( I want a hydrogen 30 kw generator in my lifetime please:)

A view from the roof

A view from the roof

My hole in the ground is not a looker from the roof. Neither is the neighbour house which is deserted. Two brothers can’t agree to sell it seems and now it’s starting to show neglect. We managed to save our house from these same brothers by a forced sale I might add. I took the picture because I’m daydreaming about an outhouse. In Norway we can build a 15 square meter outhouse no taller than 3 meters without a building permit. My drawing/painting chamber project is close to 3.50 meters tall so that won’t fit the bill. I’m thinking a study for my computers, robots, books, paperwork and pink underwear. Oeh. Putting it right in front of the old house would help indeed.
